Group Backs Ogunwuyi for Oyo Governorship, Cites Experience and Capacity

Oyo State Grassroots mobilization group, under the leadership of Hon. Gbolagade Opeyemi has called on stakeholders and residents of Oyo State to rally behind Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi as the next governor of the state, describing him as a tested public servant with the experience and temperament required to lead.

In a statement issued on behalf of the group in Ibadan on Thursday, the chairman noted that Ogunwuyi’s political journey reflects consistency, loyalty, and a deep understanding of governance. He recalled that Ogunwuyi served meritoriously as a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly between 2011 and 2015, where he distinguished himself through effective representation and people oriented contributions. His subsequent election in 2015 as a member of the House of Representatives representing Ogbomoso North/South/Orire Federal Constituency further affirmed the trust reposed in him by his people.

The group also highlighted Ogunwuyi’s contributions within the executive arm of government, particularly his appointment in 2019 as Executive Assistant to the Governor of Oyo State on Investment. According to the statement, his role in attracting and facilitating investments positioned the state for economic growth. His leadership as Director-General of the Oyo State Investment and Public-Private Partnership Agency (OYSIPPPA) was described as impactful, with a focus on strengthening partnerships and improving the state’s investment climate.

Hon. Opeyemi added that Ogunwuyi’s current role as Chief of Staff to the Governor of Oyo State has further demonstrated his administrative competence, strategic thinking, and ability to coordinate governance at the highest level. “He has remained a central figure in ensuring that government policies are effectively implemented while maintaining a strong connection with the grassroots,” the statement read.
