Governor Seyi Makinde has shared a moment that is now drawing fresh attention.
According to him, while making political considerations at the time, he identified his Chief of Staff, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi, as someone who “fit the bill” to run for a Senate position, particularly to balance regional and religious interests.
However, Ogunwuyi declined.
Instead, he chose to remain in the state, telling the governor he would rather stay and continue serving alongside him.
Makinde referenced this while presenting the Outstanding Public Service Award to Ogunwuyi on April 30, 2025, highlighting his loyalty and commitment to governance.
